Why the Z Series?

Harnesses in our Z Series are equipped with "bungee cord-like" elastic rubber straps. They absorb and mitigate the shocks resulting from sudden pulls and serve as a cushion for comfort between your hand and your dog. Constant pulling isn't something to be overlooked. It creates stress on you and your dog, especially on longer walks and outdoor activities. Consider our Z Series if you have an excited pup that constantly pulls.

Why Convertible Z Harness?

There are different designs when it comes to making harnesses. Each has its own benefits and drawbacks and one isn't better than the other. It depends on which one suits you and your pup more. The convertible in the Convertible Z Harness refers to its hybrid design between the "head-in" and "step-in" harnesses. It is one of our most unique harnesses and has many features. Here's to name a few:

  • Convertible Hybrid Design - The d-rings are positioned further back closer to your dog's torso. This allows the pulling force to distribute around its chest, not its underarm, which could cause armpit rashes.
  • Fastener Neck Closure - easy adjustment of the neck size for a more secure fit, something you don't find with traditional head-in harnesses.
  • Shock Absorbing Design - cushions and softens the sudden shock when your pup pulls so it's not so hard on your arms.
  • Flexible Body Frame - contours to your pup's body shape and moves around as your pup moves, creating maximum comfort.

1. In general, what is the Convertible Z Harness?

Every harness in our Z Series are equipped with "bungee cord-like" elastic rubber straps.

On top of that, the Convertible Z comes with the following features:

  • Convertible Hybrid Design - Hybrid between "head-in" and "step-in" harness.
  • Fastener Neck Closure - easy adjustment of the neck size for a more secure fit, something you don't find with traditional head-in harnesses.
  • Shock Absorbing Design - cushions and softens the sudden shock when your pup pulls so it's not so hard on your arms.
  • Flexible Body Frame - contours to your pup's body shape and moves around as your pup moves, creating maximum comfort.

Note:

The Convertible Z is a great option for excited pups that constantly pulls or if you're unsure about choosing a "head-in" or "step-in" harness.
2. What sizes are available?

The Convertible Z Harness comes in a range of sizes from small to extra large or dogs with a girth of 15" to 28".

3. What colors does it come in with?

Purple, green, pink, yellow and turquoise.
4. What materials are used?

The outer layer is made with scratch resistant material.

The inner body layer is made with soft and lightweight breathable mesh fabric.

The hardware (i.e. buckles) is an in house custom designed quick release buckle made of P.O.M plastic. It is the same material used for seatbelts.

5. Is it machine washable?

Yes, it is machine washable.

We recommend the following:

  • using a gentle cycle with mild detergent and cold water
  • rinse the harness thoroughly before air drying it.
6. What is the weight limit for this harness?

Gooby harnesses are mostly designed for puppies and small to medium-sized dog breeds, typically weighing less than 35 lbs.
7. How to put it on?

The Convertible Z's Hybrid Design allows you to use the harness in two ways.

Follow these steps:

When using the harness as a "head-in" harness:

  1. Keep the velcro closed and unclip only the plastic buckle.
  2. Place the harness over your dog's head and pull the two side straps up and over your dog's back.
  3. Secure the harness by clipping the plastic buckle together.

When using the harness as a "step-in" harness:

  1. Undo the velcro closure and unclip the plastic buckle.
  2. Position the harness on the ground with the D-ring facing down and have your dog step into the harness.
  3. Pull the two side straps up and over your dog's back.
  4. Secure the harness by closing the velcro and clipping the plastic buckle together.
8. Is it suitable for all breeds of dogs?

It's designed to fit a variety of small to medium dog breeds, but it may not be suitable for all dogs (i.e. large breeds like Labradors.)

Please measure your dog's chest girth to determine which size is best for your dog.

9. Is it adjustable?

Yes, it's adjustable.

It is equipped with buckle adjusters on each strap to ensure a personalized fit for your dog.
10. How does it differ from other Gooby Harnesses?

What sets the Gooby Convertible Z Harness apart from other harnesses in the Gooby line is its unique convertibility feature.

It is the only Gooby harness that can to be used as either a "step-in" or a "head-in" harness.

With this versatile harness, pet owners can easily switch between different attachment styles based on their dog's needs or their own preferences.
11. Does it come with a leash?

No. It does not include a leash. The leash is purchased separately.
12. Can it be used for outdoor activities?

No. It is only suitable for normal outdoor activities such as walking, running and, etc.

Extreme outdoor activities (i.e. swimming, tug of war games, canicross, paragliding, canyoneering and etc.) can hasten the wear of the harness.

Any misuse of our harnesses can potentially result in product failure and/or even injury to your dog.

13. Is it easy to put on and take off?

Absolutely! It is crafted with ease of use in mind.

The harness's unique hybrid design lets you easily switch between a step-in or a head-in style, making it versatile and user-friendly for both you and your dog.

The harness also includes adjustable straps for a customizable and comfortable fit.
14. Does it provide adequate support for dogs with back problems?

While the Convertible Z Harness is designed to provide support and comfort for dogs, it is not specifically designed for dogs with back problems.

Important note:

If your dog has a pre-existing back condition or injury, consult with your veterinarian to determine the best type of support and management for your dog's specific needs.
15. How comfortable is the Convertible Z?

It is made from soft and breathable inner mesh fabric, which allows for maximum air circulation and helps prevent your dog from overheating.

The harness also features a padded chest plate that provides extra comfort and support for your dog while wearing the harness.
16. Can it be used for training?

The Convertible Z is not specifically designed for training purposes.

It was designed to absorb and mitigate the shocks resulting from sudden dog pulls.

17. Is it suitable for dogs who pull?

Yes. It's great for energetic dogs who constantly pulls.

Its elastic rubber straps act like "bungee cords" to absorb and mitigate shocks resulting from sudden pulls and provide added cushioning for both the dog and owner. This added cushioning can make it more comfortable to walk a dog who suddenly or constantly pulls on the leash.
18. Can it be used for car rides?

While the Convertible Z can be used inside the car, it is not expected to function as a dog car harness.

Currently, there is no Gooby harness that is designed or rated for vehicle restraint systems.

Therefore, we do not advise connecting any of our harnesses to any restraint systems.

Any misuse of our harnesses can potentially result in product failure and/or even injury to your dog.

19. Does a traffic handle for lifting?

No. It does not have a traffic handle.

20. Is it suitable for dogs who have had surgery?

The Convertible Z is not specifically designed for dogs that have had surgery or are recovering from an injury.

While it's designed with a shock-absorbing feature to minimize stress on the body, it's important to ensure that the harness does not interfere with the healing process.

It's best to consult with your veterinarian before using any harness or equipment on a dog that has had surgery or is recovering from an injury.
