Dani & Gruff

Meet Dani and Gruff - two of our Summer 2021 Gooby Ambassadors.

In this article (and in the video above), they're going to talk about how they discovered Gooby products, and why they specifically love the Comfort X Step-In Harness.

Gruff has been using a Gooby harness ever since he was 6 months old. Dani first discovered Gooby through the recommendation of one of her U.S. friends on Instagram. “We put a call out asking for harness recommendations because we had so much trouble finding a harness to fit Gruff,” she says.

It was difficult for Dani to find a harness for Gruff due to his specific breed. "Brussels Griffons have a deep chest and a small neck, and that makes them susceptible to things like soft trachea, where when they pull on the lead (leash) they start to cough.”

Gruff’s changing personality also added to the difficulty of finding a harness. As Gruff got into his teenage years, “he was starting to get a little bit more nervous around the traffic, on the roads and things, and when he pulled, he started to cough.” Dani and Gruff tried seven or eight different harness types but the more they tried, the more nervous Gruff got with things going over his head.

Gooby’s step-in design became a lifesaver. “It doesn’t go over the head; it clips in over the side,” says Dani. Dani demonstrates the ease of the step-in design and shares that “it’s a lot easier to put on if your pups are a little bit nervous about having their harnesses on.”

“So, after trying a lot of different harnesses, we thought we’ll try this one,” says Dani. “It was an absolute game-changer. We could actually walk Gruff without him choking - without having to kind of stop and settle him.”

Dani also loves the second version of our Comfort X Step-In Harness. There are a ton of bright color combinations which are always fun for both her and Gruff. “This one is bright yellow and red, which is super cute,” says Dani. And of course, our Comfort X Version 2 Harness has that same "x" design that they both love. It's great because, "when the harness is pulled, it doesn’t pull across the throat."

“The Gooby Comfort X Step-In Harness has been an absolute game changer for us,” says Dani. “It means that we can walk Gruff without him choking. It’s comfortable for him. It doesn’t restrict his movement whilst he’s out and about playing, both on and off lead (leash).”

[00:00] Hi. I'm Dani, and this is Gruff, and we're here today to talk to you about our favorite Gooby product, and this is the Gooby Comfort X Step-In Harness. So, we've been using this product for about a year in a half now. Gruff is just turned 2-years-old this weekend, and we started using it when he was probably around 6-months-old. We first discovered it through recommendation from one of our U.S. friends on Instagram.

[00:32] So, we put a call out asking for harness recommendations because we had so much trouble finding a harness to fit gruff. Basically, the Brussels Griffons have a deep chest and a small neck, and this makes them susceptible to things like soft trachea, as well, where they...basically, when they pull on the lead, they start to cough.

[00:55] And we found, as Gruff got into those, kind of, more teenage years, he was starting to get a little bit more nervous around the traffic, on the roads, and things, and when he pulled, he started to cough. So, we tried around seven or eight different harness types. Obviously, the more we tried as well, the more kind of nervous he got about having things put over his head. So, we started to become a little bit wary of the harness which is why the Gooby step-in harness is so good because it's a step-in harness.

[01:34] So, it doesn't go over the head. It clips in over the side. Come on then. Come on. Here we go. So, it goes through his legs, and clips at the back, which makes it a lot easier to put on if your pups are a little bit nervous about having their harnesses on. So, after trying a lot of different harnesses, we thought we'll try this one.

[02:02] It's been recommended, and it was an absolute game-changer. We could actually walk Gruff without him choking, without having to kind of stop and settle him. So, it's been brilliant. So, Version 2 of their Comfort X Step-In Harness comes in different colors. So, you've got this one, which is bright yellow and red, which is super cute. It's got that same X-shaped design on it, but when the harness is pulled, it doesn't pull across the throat.

[02:35] It has space there, and again, it's got the usual things. So, you clip on your lead here, and it gives that security in the buckle grasp as well, but we're really excited that they're in bright colors. You could also pair them up with the different accessories as well. And so Gooby make coordinating color accessories.

[03:00] So, to summarize then,

the Gooby Comfort X Step-In harness has been an absolute game-changer for us. It means that we can walk Gruff without him choking. It's comfortable for him. It doesn't restrict his movement whilst he's out and about playing, both on and off lead. The Version 2 comes in these bright colors, but you also get it in your kinda, you know, more plan colors, if that's what you're into.

[03:36] It fits on top of tops. It's easy to step into. We love everything about it, and we're so grateful that we discovered this choke-free harness from Gooby. High-five.
